Metal Bird, Blue Tit

Metal Bird, Blue Tit

Metal Bird, Blue Tit

Metalbird grew from a New Zealand Street Art Project which Phil Walters started in 2009. Phil created and installed cool metal bird silhouettes around his neighbourhood just for fun. And of course people loved them, wanted them and 10 years later Metalbird has now become a global art project.

With the simple tap of a hammer, you can install this beautifully crafted, iconic, blue tit bird silhouette in your garden or outside space to have your own work of art and put smiles on faces for years to come.

Each bird is produced in the UK. Each Blue Tit is proudly cut by a small family owned UK factory out of premium 11-Gauge Corten Steel.

If you could bottle the sound of a sunny day in January it would be the distinctive song of the Blue Tit wouldn't it?

This brilliantly pretty blue and yellow bird loves to acrobat around the garden searching for bugs.

A tireless Mum, it’s not unusual for Blue Tit mother to feed her chicks every 90 seconds in the height of the breeding season. Our metal Blue Tit sculpture in your garden will raise a smile every day.

This metal bird tit sculpture comes in a simple cardboard box making it the ideal present for a bird or garden lover!

Dimensions: 18 x 20cm wide (includes measurement of the branch/spike)

To Install:

We think that the hard part is picking the perfect location! Make sure its somewhere that the bird can be seen and ideally where it is silhouetted against the clear sky or a light single colour. We always suggest that you take your time, find the perfect spot and be the artist. You can easily move it afterwards of course.

The easy part is installing it. Simply grab a hammer and knock it into a tree or post. If the wood is particularly hard, drill a hole a little smaller than the spike, and then hammer it in firmly making sure there is no movement in the bird. We usually aim to have at least 5cm within the supporting tree/post, ideally more.

This metal bird will rust naturally over time. It wont deteriorate or crumble, quite the opposite actually - it's designed to develop a beautiful rust coloured patina that then seals in the steel providing it with long term protection against the elements. We have had birds up over 10 years and they are still as good as new.
